With the La Nina weather patterns still active in our area, we continue to enjoy a good season, despite receiving just 9mm in a very HOT February.

Summer Season is always busy with the last of the calves on the ground before Christmas, branding rounds completed, DNA samples sent away,paddock rotations underway and Paddock Sale bull vaccinations and the recording of 400 day weights all completed. With the promise of rain after Christmas, Lance has been busy with the continued renovation of the paddocks over at recently purchased scrub block “Ellbank’….and of course, general maintenance of roads, fences and waters continue alongside.

Our cohort of bulls for sale this year is looking good having enjoyed the exceptional pastures over at “Glenleigh Bull Depot” for the year. As usual, we are firm in the belief that our Sale bulls are reared purely on grass . Our focus remains on Female Fertility, Natural good temperament , Breedplan Indexes ,Days to Calving and an ongoing commitment to increasing the number of Polled genetics in the herd without compromising strength and sire apppeal.

Over the next weeks, our bulls will be vet tested for soundness and semen fertility and we look forward to our clients, old and new, to visit and check out the bulls and of course, our breeder paddocks.

6 months of the year 2022 have already flown by, and as we enter August, the last month of Winter, we can look back upon a year that has seen ‘Boogalgopal’ receive some brilliant falls of rain.

431 mms have fallen for the year to date, and the paddocks are wet and the creek is still running! Heavy frosts have cut the native spear grasses and Blue grass, but the green panic remains a brilliant green.

The weaners were taken off a little later this year because of the continued rain ‘episodes” but once again, they looked superb and have continued to thrive.

With the wet weather, we have been treated to some colourful sunsets, sunrises, full dams …..and creek crossings to fix!

BULL  Selling of our  100% paddock reared bulls is in full swing , and demand has been very high , keeping us busy through the past 2 months with semen testing, morphology testing and bull delivery across the state

Preg Testing, although being held up with rain at times, has been completed and we are once again very happy with the high percentages of ‘In Calf’  females.

Mature female herds  have  maintained  an average of 90% across the board ……. female fertility and good  natural temperament are definitely two of the traits we heavily focus upon.

 All in all , the year has been one to remember, both weather wise and in the quality of both our weaners, bulls , fertility levels and paddock quality

We have enjoyed a great response with our bull selling this year, with clients hopping in early and securing their sires for the coming season…and well beyond!

At this stage of the year, we now have a good number of upcoming Brahman bulls ready for sale. These bulls were born a few months later than their

counterparts sold earlier in the season , but , are still in the 25 to 27 month range. Many are polled,the majority grey. Good temperament is an important quality

for our selection process and all bulls are guaranteed.

Of course, as we are firm believers in a “No Grain” policy when it comes to our bull breeding, all bulls are 1005 grass reared in our Glenleigh paddocks.

Sires represented include Roxborough Quantom and Lancefield M Mozart along with Brahrock genetics and our own Boogal Sires

The paddocks there are looking brilliant after receiving good rain around Christmas. We still hold out hope that even more rain may fall in the next few months !!!
