PADDOCK-REARED BULLS
With 321 mms of rain recorded so far for January, February and the first week of March, the paddocks and cattle are all looking magnificent. And so, with the bull selling season not too far away, the No 7 paddock- reared Brahman and Charbray bulls were mustered down from the hills at ‘Glenleigh’ where they run, to be vaccinated for 3 day (Bovine Ephemeral Fever), and to make further assessment on them. With the rain and the influx of sandflies , mosquitoes etc, it is important to reduce the risk of the cattle succumbing to this insect borne affliction. (We also tested the bulls for Pesti Virus and are happy to report that we had zero findings on all aspects of this disease ) As usual, besides the usual assessment for conformation and correctness, we have a very low tolerance for any sort of poor temperament issues…. but are happy to report that the bulls all worked through the yards and the crush very quietly. We have 120 bulls to offer this year, including many polled animals …….. all of which will only be offered in the paddock. 100% grass fed bulls in accordance with our policy of not feeding grain.

The bulls are doing like steam and there will be more updates as we yard them in a few weeks for their second 3 Day Dose.In the meantime, road work, maintenance, steer consignment etc all continue. The paddocks are a joy to work in and in between the cloudy skies , we have been treated to the odd brilliant sunset………
