Weaning.... May 2015 - Boogal Cattle Co

We completed our weaning over May and have been really happy with the calves and their weights….and the large number of sturdy- framed polled calves.

It is always such an enjoyable time especially when the weaners all walk out quietly, the mothers settle happily back into their paddocks and extra time is given to the stud stock back in the home yards .

These future stud sires are assessed more carefully at home for temperament before they too are walked out to their new paddocks.

It has been a dry month as far as rain goes with nothing recorded…some really hot days along with a few cold ones plus a big frost early in May!….more like Summer on the whole however !

Stud Brahmans coming in over Boogalgopal Creek….in our stud paddocks we usually run a Charolais and a Brahman sire so that the parentage of the calves can be recorded with accuracy

Bringing in the Charbrays

The weaners are all yarded for a week or so with hay feeders filled as required.

Within a day or so, they have settled down and are happy to get closer to check us out
