The change in the outlook  for  our Summer season has been nothing short of amazing.

We have gone from reducing numbers every few weeks and supplementing breeders with molasses to receiving 8 inches of rain in December and enjoying the resultant growth in the  pasture.

The bulls are now all out with the breeders and the calves are showing the bloom that can only come from well contented cows.

We can only hope that the rain that we have been lucky enough to receive will soon spread across the whole state.

Below are a few images captured over the month of December

By December , the majority of our calves were on the ground but a few little surprise packages were popping up around the paddocks.

This calf was born down by the creek under the proud, protective eye of her mother

………and were happy with their condition despite the less than ordinary weather conditions

We were  lucky to finish up the branding and beat a hasty retreat down the creek

While we were receiving gentle storms and showers here at Boogalgopal,……….

over at “Stonehaven” Dan and Emma-Jane were deluged with 16 inches in 2 days

This certainly caused fencing, telephone  and road problems…..

but on the upside  of things, the freshly desilted dam filled up to create a very impressive waterhole

We branded the stud paddocks and managed to avoid too many delays from wet yards .
